We Are Now Accepting 2010 Award Nominations!
Each year we recognize an outstanding teacher, parent, administrator, and service provider
for their commitment and dedication to making a difference in the lives of Indiana
students and/or young adults with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.  

We also give special recognition to four outstanding Indiana students who are facing
the challenges of having a learning disability and/or attention deficit disorder,
and honor them for their hard work and perseverance
toward achieving their academic and life goals.

All nominees must be a resident of Indiana.
                                    Deadline is September 30, 2010.
Award Categories and Qualifications
  • Student of the Year Awards
    This award acknowledges and celebrates the
    accomplishments of Indiana students with learning
    disabilities or attention deficit disorders, even the
    “C” students!  Let them know that you recognize
    their daily struggles, as well as their achievements
    as they pursue their academic and life goals - let
    them know that they are an inspiration to you!
         Three outstanding students are recognized for
    the following grade levels:
    • Elementary Student of the Year
                 (1st – 5th grades)
    • Middle/Jr High Student of the Year
                (6th – 9th grades)
    • High School Student of the Year
               (10th – 12th grades)
    High school seniors may be nominated for the High
    School Student of the Year Award and the College
    Scholarship Award if they will be attending college
    in the Fall. However, each nomination must be
    submitted separately in order to be considered for
    each award level.

  • College Scholarship Award
    This $1,000 college scholarship award will be
    given to an outstanding high school senior or
    college student with a learning disability or
    attention deficit disorder, to assist them with
    their post-secondary education expenses.
         The nominee may be a; 1) high school
    senior  (including an equivalent program)  or
    2) a student who is already attending or has
    been accepted to a college, university, tech or
    trade school.
         The award recipient will need to verify their
    learning disability, and proof of acceptance or
    enrollment from a post-secondary school.
         Current High school seniors may be
    nominated for the High School Student of the
    Year Award  and  the College Scholarship
    Award if they will be attending college in the
    Fall.  However, each nomination must be

    for each award level.

  • Parent of the Year Award
    This award recognizes an Indiana parent or
    guardian of a child or an adult with a learning
    disability or attention deficit disorder who through
    his or her professional or volunteer work shares
    selflessly of his or her time to assist, support and
    encourage other parents and/or professionals, and
    who promotes an understanding and acceptance
    of students or young adults with LD/ADHD within
    their own school system, community or on a
    statewide level.

  • Teacher of the Year Award
    This award recognizes an outstanding Indiana
    teacher whose;
    1) work demonstrates his or her ability to
    provide a creative and positive classroom
    learning experience that addresses the unique
    educational needs, strengths and lifelong
    potential of students with LD/ADHD;
    2) often goes above and beyond what is
    normally expected in his or her profession; and
    3) who serves as a role model and inspiration
    to his or her colleagues.  
         The recipient of this award may be a teacher
    in the special education or regular education
    field who works in a public or private school or
    college.

  • Administrator of the Year Award
    This award recognizes an outstanding Indiana
    administrator who;
    1) inspires the respect and admiration of students,
    parents, and colleagues for his or her leadership
    skills and commitment to results-oriented LD/ADHD
    support services and programs that increase the
    educational opportunities for students;
    2) who demonstrates sensitivity when interacting
    with LD/ADHD students; and
    3) who displays an understanding of the complex
    legal and emotional aspect of raising and
    educating students with LD/ADHD.  
         The recipient of this award may be a principal,
    special education director, department chair,
    supervisor or dean who serves in a public or
    private school or college.

  • Outstanding Service Award
    This award recognizes an outstanding Indiana
    service provider (local or state) who strives to
    provide a support service, product or program
    that improves the education, employment, or
    general well being of students or young adults
    with a learning disability and/or attention deficit
    disorder, or for their families by one or more of
    the following:
    1) provides a results-oriented LD/ADHD
    psychological or educational service, program
    or product;
    2) serves as a local or state resource provider;
    3) advocates through legislative or public
    awareness activities that enhance the general
    public knowledge regarding the unique needs,
    strengths and lifelong potential of individuals
    with LD/ADHD at school, in the workplace or
    living in their community;  or
    4) who has contributed to the success and
    mission of the LDA of Indiana.
         The recipient of this award may be an
    individual or a business, organization, school,
    agency, or service group.
